Elon Musk has officially changed his name on X.
Musk shocked his followers by changing his profile name to “Kekius Maximus” earlier in the week.
His almost 210 million followers were baffled by the sudden name change. He also changed his profile picture to show the Pepe the Frog character in a gladiator uniform.
Musk himself has not explained why he made this move but here are a few hints.
His fans online have claimed that the new moniker is a combination of Pepe the Frog and Russell Crowe’s character, Maximus Decimus Meridius from Gladiator.
Pepe, which started as a cartoon from the comic series, “Boy’s Club” is now allegedly used online by white supremacists and the alt-right.
Musk teased his change on X by writing: “Kekius Maximus will soon reach level 80 in hardcore PoE.”
PoE is an alleged reference to the popular “Path of Exile 2” video game
It may be in reference to cryptocurrency, as Kekius Maximus is a “memecoin”. Musk made a huge impact in the crypto worlf with another meme coin, “Dogecoin”.
It may be linked to a burner account. Musk fans have suggested that the billionaire has had a burner super-fan account, operating using the name Adrian Dittmann. Musk has denied this claim and even mocked people who claimed he runs this account.
