Travis Kelce had an emotional reaction to his girlfriend Taylor Swift getting booed at the Super Bowl.
Swift received an unexpectedly chilly reception during Super Bowl LIX at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, where she was in attendance to support her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Despite being one of the world’s most recognizable celebrities, Swift was met with loud boos from the crowd when she appeared on the stadium’s jumbotron.
In widely circulated videos, the singer appeared to acknowledge the negative response, offering a humorous side-eye. She was also seen turning to rapper Ice Spice and seemingly asking: “What is going on?”
Tennis legend Serena Williams quickly showed her support, posting on X (formerly Twitter): “I love you @taylorswift13 don’t listen to those booo!!”

Some speculate that Eagles fans may still hold resentment over Swift’s past comments about the team.
During her 2023 Eras Tour stop in Philadelphia, Swift addressed speculation about whether lyrics from her song Gold Rush referred to the Eagles football team or the rock band. She clarified: “There was sort of a, I don’t know how large the debate was, but I did see the debate about how a lyric that says ‘with my Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door’ … I saw some people wondering if it was the band Eagles or the team the Eagles.”
“And I love the band the Eagles,” she continued, before adding: “But guys, like come on. I’m from Philly. Of course it’s the team,” per Billboard.
Since dating Kelce, however, Swift has become a vocal supporter of the Chiefs, a shift that has not gone unnoticed by Philadelphia fans.
Kelce, who had just endured a tough night after the Chiefs’ loss, struggled with the crowd’s treatment of Swift, according to a source cited by the Daily Mail.
“Travis was aware of Taylor getting booed and he felt helpless. Seeing the look on her face got to him,” the source revealed.
“He always protects her and it broke his heart. He was already having a tough night and the fact that the stadium was predominantly Eagles fans didn’t help. Travis knows that this hurt her and anyone can see this.”
The insider suggested that Swift’s reception may have been fueled by lingering resentment from Eagles fans, who view her as “a traitor of sorts” due to her Pennsylvania roots and former support for the team. Since dating Kelce, Swift has been a prominent Chiefs supporter, a shift that has not gone unnoticed by die-hard Eagles fans.
Adding to the controversy, former President Donald Trump took to social media to mock Swift, amplifying the stadium’s reaction.
Trump, who made a brief appearance at the game, later trolled Swift on Truth Social, writing: “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”
The remark was particularly stinging given that Kelce had previously expressed his appreciation for Trump’s attendance, calling it a “great honor.”
While Trump was spotted in the stands early in the game, he did not stay for long, leaving the stadium by halftime after the Chiefs struggled in the first half.
